Defending Honor

We are Reedies past and present who believe firmly that the Honor Principle applies not only to our behavior with each other on campus but also to the invisible people and places near and far who feel the effects of our existence. We recognize that the extraction, refinement, and burning of fossil fuels results in unacceptable and unnecessary environmental destruction. There are a relatively small group of rich corporations and governments which profit immensely from fossil fuel industry, while the harms of pollution and climate change are born by populations already marginalized along lines of race and class. We believe that it is ethically unacceptable for Reed to fund its activities in any part by investments in the fossil fuel industry.
